Halloumi recipes

Halloumi recipes bring a crispy touch to weeknight dinners – our chefs pick the ingredients, delivered to your door.

Halloumi fries best in a hot, dry pan with no oil or just a little – the cheese has plenty of fat of its own. Turn the slices only once, when they have a nice golden-brown colour, after about 1–2 minutes per side. Frying it too long makes the cheese rubbery.

Halloumi works in both savoury and sweeter combinations: use it in salads like feta, in the pan in place of meat or vegetables, or straight on the grill. Its best partners are watermelon, mint, chilli and balsamic.

Halloumi does not melt in the oven or pan the way mozzarella does, which makes it a great choice for vegetarians looking for filling protein without meat. In Ruokaboksi recipes the halloumi comes pre-portioned, so nothing goes to waste.
